Stitching Success with Strength and Spirit

Tajmira Yeasmin, a 32-year-old homemaker from Atulia, Habra (North 24 Parganas), lived a modest life with her husband, Arifur Rahaman—a daily wage worker in a garment hub. Struggling to make ends meet, Tajmira decided to take charge and contribute to her family’s income. With determination and a sewing machine, she started a small tailoring shop from her home.

On learning about the Bandhan Sustainable Livelihood Programme (BSLP), Tajmira enrolled herself, seeking both guidance and growth. The program offered her vital training in entrepreneurship, market analysis, operations, financial management, and product marketing. Alongside training, she was assisted in processing a PMEGP loan through Punjab National Bank and registered her business under MSME.

Empowered by this support, Tajmira transformed her home business into a manufacturing unit called Arif Garments. She invested in 10 semi-automatic sewing machines and built a production capacity of 600 ready-made baby garments per day, employing 10 skilled staff members.

From a household income of ₹5,000–7,000 per month, her family’s earnings have now grown to ₹25,000–30,000 monthly. She has built a strong wholesale network and continues to evolve her business strategies, with steady support from her husband.

Tajmira’s enterprise is not just a family success story—it’s a community enabler. She currently employs eight local women, offering them a stable livelihood and fostering economic empowerment.

Tajmira dreams of scaling her business further, increasing production while maintaining quality, and expanding to broader markets. Her long-term goal is to empower more women by creating inclusive employment opportunities within her unit.
