Mostafijur Rahaman
Mostafijur Rahaman, age 28 years from Habra, North 24 Parganas was struggling with his career after completing graduation. His father was sick and unable to engage himself in any kind of income-generating activities. As an elder son, he was the prime responsible person to feed his family of 6 members. He started looking for a job in Kolkata but after a lot of rejections, he was bound to start work as a daily laborer in his village. Meanwhile, he was also enhancing his skills through enrolling himself in skill development courses.
He was also encouraged to start a business but due to a lack of financial resources, he couldn’t take step. Bandhan Konnagar identified him and enrolled in the Bandhan Sustainable Livelihood Programme. After completing the training programme he was encouraged to start a food processing factory (Sauce and Ketchup factory). Bandhan Konnagar helped by linking him with the PMEGP loan scheme and making legal permits. He generates employment for other unemployed youths and specially women of his village. Based on customer demand and increasing sales he started making other food products as well such as mango panna, orange panna, and other seasonal products, etc.
